Emergency Alert System Equipment
My IP Radio Station Is Comprised of Two Emergency Alert System Encoder/Decoder units (ENDECs), which scan various audio inputs for emergency alert messages. If an alert is detected on a channel or is pulled from the internet, the station audio is interrupted by the EAS tones and alert audio.
In-Service Equipment
SAGE EAS Endec 1822
The Original “Grey Box” Analog EAS Encoder/Decoder unit made from the mid 90s to 2011. The 1822 is set to relay alerts only within WHUA’s coverage area on the “Local EAS Only” stream.
- Monitor 1: Patch From SAGE Digital Endec 3644
- Replaced the TFT EAS 911 due to the unit constantly rebooting and wiping it’s settings
SAGE Digital Endec 3644
The “Blue Box” Successor to the original SAGE EAS Endec 1822. This has the capability of pulling alerts from the internet for civil alerts (IPAWS/CAP) and can be controlled by a webserver. The SAGE is responsible for relaying alerts on the main stream.
